Is Your Pest Control Company Using Pesticides Illegally?tempo

At Innovative we use only preferred pesticides and apply them to the exact label specifications ensuring that our treatments are truly environmentally friendly.

Every pesticide product is registered for certain target pests and only for specific types of treatments. These specifications are in place to protect our health, safeguard our environment and protect non- target species such as birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians and beneficial insects. Performing a treatment that is not specifically listed on a product label is not only unethical, it is illegal.

Some  pest management companies will perform illegal treatments to garner better or longer lasting results. One product in particular that has been widely abused is called Tempo 20 WP. Though safe for indoor use the label strictly prohibits use outdoors  and has never been  registered for exterior perimeter pest control. Tempo is harmful to the environment when applied outside because it washes away into the watershed killing fish, aquatic invertebrates and amphibians. This product is also  harmful to birds and beneficial insects such as honey bees and butterflies.

You may ask yourself why companies would do such a thing even though the label clearly prohibits outdoor use for environmental and health reasons. The answers are simple: convenience, profit and to get an edge over competitors. When applied outdoors Tempo is effective for up to two years, therefore the treatment can be applied at almost any time of year. This enables the pesticide applicator to apply a treatment when it is convenient and ensures that it will easily last until the same time the following year. Thus exterior sprays can be performed throughout the year maximizing profit and ensuring long lasting insect control. The problem is that Tempo dries as a fine powdery residue and is continuously carried into the environment by wind and rain causing harm to many non target species and contaminating water.

How will you know if Tempo was used at your home or business? Tempo leaves a telltale chemical residue that has a sandy speckled  appearance. There are no products that are registered for outdoor use that leave a visible chemical residue so chances are if the product leaves a film behind after its dry - it’s Tempo. You owe it to yourself and the environment to check your records, If the product listed for any type of outdoor treatment is Tempo 20 WP PCP # 25673 the treatment was illegal. Anyone suspected of performing illegal pesticide treatments should immediately be reported to the Ministry of Environment.

So much of pest control revolves around trust. At Innovative we are proud to always operate in a health conscious and environmentally friendly way. After all, we are protectors of health and property. We are the ones you can trust!
